Hermitage Castle
Hermitage Castle
Hermitage, in deepest Liddesdale, is a lonely spot, and the sight of the awesome castle ruin only heightens the sense of foreboding. Hermitage Castle has inspired local legends but its history of torture, treason and romantic trysts is more than colourful enough.
Wilton Lodge Park
Wilton Lodge Park
Award-winning Wilton Lodge Park is one of the most picturesque town parks in Scotland, with its tree lined walks, river, waterfall, formal gardens, museum and walled gardens. In spring there are extensive areas of daffodils, narcissi and flowering trees, and in autumn the gold and russets of the trees are a must. Take a walk through the Violet Woods, joining the park at the western side which continues onto the riverside walks.
Hawick Museum
Hawick Museum
Hawick Museum's parkland location and fascinating displays reflect the endeavour of the town and its people. The objects and fine works of art collected are not just about Hawick but a window on the world. The permanent displays allow many of our wonderful artefacts to be shown. The Jimmie Guthrie and Steve Hislop exhibitions make us a motorcyclists' Mecca.
